1. Simple Past Tense

Simple Past Tense is a form of time used to describe events or deeds performed at a particular moment in the past. Time elapsed or events are known.

1) Verbal Sentence

The general formula of Simple Past Tense is:

(+) Subject + V2

(-) Subject + Did + not + V1

(?) Did + Subject + V1?

2) The Nominal Sentence

The positive nominal sentence pattern used is:

·         For Subject, You, They, we : Subject + were+ Non Verb

·         For Subject I, he, she, it : Subject + was+ Non Verb

Example:

- They did not come yesterday

- He went to Malang a week ago

- My family and I moved to Pontianak last month

- He studied mathematics last night.

- I was unhappy last night

- When did you buy that camera?

- What time does your brother go to Surabaya?

- I did not buy the book yesterday

- He does not work because since five days ago he was sick.

- We were not in Pontianak last year

Used to and use to

1.     1.  Used for goods is ever. Used to be used to declare a habit that is already familiar with others is no longer done. The form of the formula used in the sentence is: Used to + Verb1

Example:

1. My father used to smoke when he was young

2. He used to take care of me but not anymore

3. He used to sing while still in junior high school

4. I used to live in Pontianak

2.     2.  Use 'use to' in sentences when it follows 'did' or 'did not'

            Example :

1.      Didn't we use to eat to the mall?

2.      Why did you use to go out with my brother ?

3.      Did you use to buy the populer book ?

Ø  The The conclusion is when there is did or didn't in the sentence, we say use to, when there is no did or didn't in the sentence, we say used to

Memory 

A person i used to know..

I had a friend special, the named is Novi Anggraini. I have been friends with me since I sat in the first school, precisely in 2010. I know it because we were always together at the time of class. Starting from the cafeteria, to the mosque, and worked assignment together. I often to went novi’s home. One thing that I always remember from her,  she is always excited, she is sick "kidney failure" but she never complains in front of me, she never shows her pain before me.

Although every 2 times full she must washed the blood, but it didn’t  make abstinence to continue to study . Novi is a good person, she always helped me when I'm in distress, including when I didn’t had  any pocket money she always treat me. 3 years we are spent together in 2013 we had to split up because we have graduated from the first school.

From then on I did not go to vocational school but he did not go to school because of financial factors. Since then we have rarely met. But I didn’t  forgot to asked she is about her conditions. Last time I met she in 2014 on her 16 th birthday. If there is a chance I would like to met again to remember the past and spend time together.

A place i used to go ...

When i am schooI, i often visited to Kijing beach, Mempawah. I went  there during the school holidays precisely in 2010, then in 2011 I went back there, then the last in 2013. I went there together with my friends. I went there with a motorcycle but I also never used the bus. Me and my friends loved things with nature. Although the beach is quite far away, but I didn’t feel tired to go there.

It takes about 3 hours to go there. The atmosphere and scenery at Kijing beach , Mempawah is so beautiful, every eyes that sees it must be amazed at its beautiful view. The fatigue immediately disappeared when we could heard the roar and the cool air of the Kijing beach.

 But now I stoped going there because of condition and the situation that are not possible to leave. Every day there are always activities that forced me to prioritize academic, so the spare time to pamper the eyes with the beauty of nature should be postponed.

An activity i used to do ...

  When I was 5 years old until I was 14 years old I learned to study in the musholla "Nurul Iman" Rasau Jaya. There I was taught how to be well and the tajwid to be true. I studied together with my friends. I was taught by an ustazd Marsup. I have difficulty in reading al-quran until at the age of 7 years I can just review. The time is long enough for someone to recite. For 9 years I studied together with my friends.

 The time I spent learning the lessons gave me so much experience. After I can review, then I trained and learned how to pronunciation of hijaiyah letter correctly or its correct tajwid like what. But when I was 14 years old exactly in 2012, I stopped to study in the Musholla, because I am the only one who is the bigger while the others on the small ones.

I felt the oldest and I was embarrassed, therefore I finally decided to quit. Although I have stopped, but I still learned to study at home, reading al-quran and applying the knowledge that was given by ustadz.
